#5 TECHNIQUE TUESDAY -  WOVEN CABLES PATTERN STITCH PART 1: DOUBLE TREBLE LEFT CROSS CROCHET CABLE

This tutorial focuses on Part 1 of the Woven Cables pattern stitch we developed for the afghan block with the same name featured our free Warm Up America booklet. This pattern stitch has been translated, adapted, and used in designs all over the world since we released the pattern in 2012 and we have received hundreds of requests for a step-by-step how-to for navigating the seemingly complex cables.

In this first tutorial, we address the first part of the Woven Cables pattern stitch with the Double Treble Left Cross Crochet Cable (say that three times fast!)

NOTE: The link to the free booklet download is at the end of the tutorial.

#4 TECHNIQUE TUESDAY – ADDING NEW YARN IN THE MIDDLE OF A ROW

If you've ever run out of yarn in the middle of a row of crochet stitches or needed to change colors in the middle of a row, you know it can be a little frustrating. This step-by-step photo tutorial for adding new yarn in the middle of a row of crochet stitches will fix those frustrations right away. Oh… and we demonstrated it in single crochet and double crochet stitches so you get the jist of how to adapt the technique for other stitches and patterns.

#3 TECHNIQUE TUESDAY - FOUNDATION SINGLE CROCHET

Foundation crochet stitches are, without a doubt, the most used crochet stitches here in the Shibaguyz Designz studio. Once you master the foundation stitch technique, you will love the flexibility and clean edges of these foundation rows for garment hems, top down necklines, and cuffs. We've also adapted them for extending rows in some of our designs and they are FAB when you need to work back into them for after-the-fact borders.

Check out this step-by-step photo tutorial for the Foundation Single Crochet stitch… then you might want to jump on over to the Foundation Half Double Crochet Stitch tutorial. The Foundation Half Double Crochet Stitch tutorial actually came in at #6 for the month of September 2014 but a Top 5 sounds WAY cooler than a Top 6… right? We'll sneak it in here anyway… as a bonus:

#2 TECHNIQUE TUESDAY – WOVEN CABLES PATTERN STITCH PART 2: DOUBLE TREBLE RIGHT CROSS CROCHET CABLE

It was probably inevitable, right? Since Part 1 of our step-by-step photo tutorial for how to make the Woven Cables Pattern Stitch made the list this month, it makes sense that Part 2 wouldn't be far behind.

We don't blame y'all for loving this dynamic stitch pattern. We have adapted the Woven Cables Pattern Stitch for some very exciting designs in our upcoming crochet pattern book… we'll talk more about that later… stay tuned…
