Two new designz in the Fall 2017 issue of |
We don't get the opportunity to design a lot of menswear but, when we do, we make it a classic and the Varsity Jacket is just about as on point as you can get for a fall favorite. Aside from being a personal favorite ours, the varsity jacket is, once again, in the closet of every fashion blogger this fall. Made in Cascade Yarns, Heritage 150, you'll look stylish and stay cozy without feeling weighed down. This yarn is the perfect mid-weight for garments and you'll love crocheting with it. The varsity jacket is a very non-gender specific design and looks great on everyone so make one for yourself or some lucky grad running off to college in their favorite school colors. Or… ya know… just crochet one for yourself in YOUR favorite colors and let them learn to crochet one for themselves! | |
| Now here's a piece that will work for just about any type of weather and it is made from just four rectangles! Y'all know how we love playing with constructing more complex garments from simple geometric shapes (See Crochet Geometry). Yup… if you can make a rectangle, you can make this caftan-inspired top. We made this one from Malabrigo Sock to keep it light and the simple construction means you could have this one worked up in no time flat. Layer this one up for fall and keep it on hand for trips (the light and breezy fabric is great for layering on airplanes) and the upcoming holiday party season (think of a sparkly yarn option). |
And, yes, we know… but we really didn't set out to make them both in the same color palette. Sometimes it just works out that way! But, to be honest, we do have quite a bit of this color in our wardrobe and our own home decor… hhmmmm…
As always, we love seeing what you all make so don't be shy about sharing your versions of these two fall favorites with us on social media… those links are down there at the bottom of this post. I am making the caftan top now in a mossy green color. It's a large project in fingering, but the pattern is easy to memorize so I can work it while watching tv. Two back pieces finished, front about 1/3 done. Hopefully I'll get it done before the cool weather starts!
