Other Designers We Love: JUL DESIGNS

11/28/2016

Instant Closures... and Satisfaction

Early in the process of creating Crochet Geometry we noticed that a number of the pieces would be perfectly suited for some beautiful adornment. Alas, finding striking buttons, pins, and other decorative closures was like Goldilocks looking for the perfect bed; there's a lot of stuff out there but nothing we found was "just right".

It was not until we ran across the Jul Designs booth at TNNA (The National NeedleArts Association) that we knew we had finally found our perfect solution.

The hardware that Jul Designs creates is perfectly suited for crochet and knit fabric.

Of course we LOVE the artistry of the shawl pins but we are HUGE fans of the pedestal buttons and screw-in closures. These types of closures can be unscrewed, moved to another location on the garment and screwed back in without pulling or making holes in the fabric of your garment... INSTANT BUTTONS WHEREVER YOU WANT THEM! With or without buttonholes in the design.

WOOHOO!

The designs themselves range from ornate and flashy to simple and understated... both of which we can, and do, use on a daily basis. We're always on the look out for a great button, or shawl pin -

Here are a couple we used recently. These pins are obviously for more than shawls and absolutely stunning. You need to see the detail on these gorgeous works of art.
The other type of closure we love is Jul's Screw In Closures. Jason uses the Renaissance Hinge Screw-In Leather Closure to style his Autumn/Winter neck wraps and scarves. It's a simple leather closure that uses a screw on post with a leather washer holding the piece to the back.  Jul has over a dozen of these types of closures alone...

It's easy to see that just a quick change of the buttons on an accessory or garment can make a dramatic impact. Above is the same design sporting two different types of pedestal buttons... both work well. And best of all since these are not sewn in we can change them at any time depending on our mood… which is, of course, always changing too.

You can check out these and all of the other FAB Jul Designs products on the Jul Designs website here. This is not a paid ad... we just like their stuff an awful lot.
