Just Released: Two New Crochet Patterns for June Cashmere

10/7/2016

Vines Hooded Scarf and The Strata Cowl Are Now Available

Strata Cowl by Shannon Mullett-Bowlsby for June Cashmere
Ooooooh Cashmere!
Wander through a crowded sales floor at an event like Stitches! or Vogue Knitting Live, or even at your local fancy-pants yarn shop and you are bound to hear the quiet coo of someone who's found a booth containing that ever-so-soft fleece: "Ooooh, Cashmere". The sound echos above the rest of the hubbub and heads pop up, turning, much like a prairie dog scene from Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom. We love cashmere... it's light, airy, and soft, but at the same time warm, and substantial. A hand crafter's dream to work with.

There are two reasons specifically we love the fiber from June Cashmere. First... well, it's cashmere, really good cashmere; hand combed from flocks in Kyrgyzstan by the shepherds themselves. Hand combing is the best way to get only the soft undergrowth fibers from the goat (cashmere comes from goats, btw). Second, June cashmere goes directly to the ranchers and owners, bypassing a great deal of bureaucracy and red tape. The Kyrgyz people get money directly for their fiber instead of getting paid by the state. Gotta love fair trade!

When the folks at June Cashmere asked Shannon to create two patterns using their lace weight cashmere yarn he didn't have to think twice. it was just a matter of deciding on what to do with the sumptuous fiber.

After a few weeks of swatching with various colors and stitch patterns he settled on two small-skein projects: A cowl that uses one skein of their lace weight yarn, and a hooded scarf that takes two skeins of the same lace weight yarn. We know you're going to love them both. The hooded scarf has a pretty, feminine lace pattern, while the cowl looks amazing worn by either a man or woman. Jason already has placed his order for the Strata Cowl in the Natural color.

As with all of our Shibaguyz Designz patterns, these two feature Jason's FAB photography showing you the finest details of the designs to make your work easier. Also, we have included the stitch chart for the Vines stitch pattern… this one is sure to be a show stopper!

Take a look below for more details.
