Mainsail Crochet Wrap Vest Digital Pattern
Some patterns have a life beyond the page.
The Mainsail Wrap Vest first appeared in Crochet Geometry, and in the years since that book went out of print, it became one of those patterns people asked about — quietly, persistently, hopefully. We heard you.
This is the Mainsail, fully reimagined. Same stunning design. Bigger sizing range. Better instructions. More of everything you need to make it yours.
The secret to this vest is its beautiful simplicity: one rectangular piece, no shaping, no seams to wrestle. What looks complex is actually the Non-Stick Lace and Cables pattern stitch doing all the heavy lifting. Yes, we've rated this Experienced, but here's what that actually means: the techniques are advanced and the construction is not. Work the steps as written, give yourself permission to go slowly, and you will absolutely nail this. We promise!
And once it's off the hook? Wear it four ways! This is Wardrobe Architecture at its most elemental; one piece that earns its place in your closet by being exactly what you need it to be, every single day.
What's Inside This 14-Page Pattern:
Sizes XS through 6X (to fit 28"–64" bust)
Complete stitch guide including the Linked First-Treble and Non-Stick Lace and Cables pattern stitch
Foundation Single Crochet and Knotless Starting Chain instructions
Linked First-treble and End Cap Finishing Stitch tutorials
Full schematic with all measurements
Updated stitch chart
Tips for reading your fabric and managing the pattern
Blocking guide for merino/silk and “yarn-agnostic” substitution suggestions
