Regardless of what you wear or how you wear it, whether you crocheted, knitted, sewed, or thrifted it, you deserve clothes that fit YOUR body and make YOU feel good. Clothes are the outward expression of the person we feel like on the inside and can be a huge part of how we express ourselves and explore our lives. Nothing can change blah to FAB or dysphoria to euphoria faster than a quick glance at yourself in the mirror in the perfect fit. Maybe it’s a great fitting pair of jeans, a bra that actually does its job (really… why is it so hard?!?), a jacket that makes you feel like a serious boss, or a dress that shows off all the right things in all the right places. Heck… sometimes a t-shirt or a top that just fits and doesn’t get in the way is all the moment calls for, and even THAT can be difficult to find if you don’t know your correct measurements.
All body types, shapes, sizes, and gender expressions are welcome and honored in this workshop where we will address the specific challenges we often face with fitting an new or changing body into clothes by a binary fashion industry that is outdated and just doesn’t get it. We’ll cover such mysteries as front and back rise, bust points, crotch points, and where exactly is my true waist and my actual hip?
For this workshop you’ll need a soft tailor’s tape for taking measurements.
Optional: That blue low tack tape (that stuff you use to mask trims and windows when you are painting) in a fairly narrow width (approximately 1” – 1.5”) for helping take measurements by yourself. That’s it! We will supply you with a handout that includes all the measurements and a guide for where to take those measurements on your body.
It really is not easy to navigate the commercial fashion industry and it can feel downright hostile if you are coming to terms with changes to your body and NOTHING seems to fit correctly. Let us help ease the stress and help make getting dressed a celebration of your inner deity
