Many of the quilts we have made were quilted on a machine BUT… hand quilting without a hoop holds a special place in our hearts. There is nothing like the tactile pleasure of grasping fabric and passing a needle and thread through the layers of a quilt. Each stitch is unique and the overall result is a beautifully crinkled, cozy, textured heirloom. Mentally, hand stitching a quilt is a freeing process allowing the mind to drift deeply into the movement of needle and thread while the one of a kind textile creation unfolds right before your eyes. Stitch by stitch, the world just melts away.
We bring our background of "big stitch" quilting (we used to just call it quilting?!?) and combine it with our love of sashiko to create a unique version of hand quilting that is accessible and oh so satisfying.
Hand Quilting Without a Hoop includes:
- Making a sandwich - No, not a delicious pastrami on light rye… it must be lunchtime.
