Just in time for holiday crafting! Make an easy and customizable bag perfect for wrapping gifts or as a gift itself. The best part is this project takes minimal sewing skills and almost no time at all!
The Japanese Rice Bag or Komebukuro is a crafters delight. Usually constructed from squares in a patchwork style from whatever scraps and odd cuts were available and often used to to carry rice and other offerings to temples during religious ceremonies.
The final bag is useful, adaptable, and fully reversible!
Feeling scrappy? Join us and make your own bag with plain, pieced, or embellished fabrics... or maybe a little bit of everything!
You will learn :
- Measuring and cutting fabric
- Adjusting the template to better suit your needs
- Tips for perfect square corners
- Interfacing and/or stabilizer
- Drawstrings and handle options
- and of course, sewing the whole thing together.
This workshop includes the basic pattern template that we'll teach you how to easily re-size to whatever size you require.
Once you make one of these Rice Bags we're sure you'll be anxious to make a dozen for gifts and to hold your projects.
This workshop will be recorded live and edited for re-broadcast. All students who sign up for the live event will receive access to the streaming class as soon as it is uploaded regardless if they were able to attend the live event or not.
